Admissions Information for Overseas Students

As stated in our mission, N.I.T has been contributing to the technical advances in developing countries and spreading Japan’s technology worldwide Accepting international students has been one of the ways to fulfill such mission. The admission requirements are set in a way that may encourage many overseas students to apply for our program.

Number of students admitted
Several students for each department (Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Products Engineering and Environmental Management, Department of Innovative Systems Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Department of Computer and Information Engineering, Department of Architecture, and Department of Living Environment Design)

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for this course:
1. Those who are of foreign nationality and have completed 12 years of schooling outside Japan or otherwise recognized as being equivalent by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and are over 18 years old;
2. applicants must also have taken subjects specified by the university in the following Selection Criteria for the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) sponsored by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

Selection Criteria
In addition to EJU results, applicants will be interviewed.
The EJU subjects specified by the university are as follows (applicants must take the examinations for all the subjects listed below).
Subjects: Japanese, Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Mathematics (course 2)
Language: either Japanese or English
Date of EJU, the results of which can be used for enrollment for academic year 2010: June and November in 2008, and June in 2009

Tuition (spring semester): ¥698,450
Subtotal (required for entrance procedure): ¥922,450
Tuition (autumn semester): ¥695,250
Total fees for first year: ¥1,617,700
*A partial tuition exemption system (up to 30% of the tuition) is established for self funding international students. This aid applies only for students who complete the application procedure and are reviewed and approved after they enter the university.
*The submission of proof of earnings and certificate of seal registration (INKAN-TOROKU SHOMEISHO)of the guarantor is necessary at admission (for details of the entrance procedure, please refer to the guidelines for entrance procedure sent after the announcement of the examination result).
*If the university does not receive the required documents, the entrance fee, and the tuition before the deadline, the admission will be canceled.
