A group of 48 students from China arrived at our institute on August 4th, 2009. They interacted with N.I.T. overseas students who are taking Japanese language courses. They listened to speeches in three languages; Japanese, Chinese, and English. Also, they sang the Japanese song “Nagori-Yuki” together in Japanese.Chinese students played traditional instrument, and Saudi Arabian and Myanmarese performed traditional dances.
Finally it reached its peak when everybody played a game together and the exchange program came to an emotional ending.

Forty-five students and ten teachers from the architecture department at one of our partner university schools visited N.I.T. The group arrived on June 30th, 2009 and then they attended a school tour and welcome ceremony on July 1st. The same day, Dr. Shu, the Dean of Architecture, made a courtesy call with the N.I.T. president, and a signing ceremony took place via video conferencing through the internet with Taiwan. After that they went on a field trip to Shinshukan in Miyashiro, Kasahara elementary school, Roppongi, Aoyama, Shinjuku, Asakusa, Ryogoku, and Ashikaga elementary school for a chance to see Japanese modern architecture and historical buildings.

Department of Architecture restoring the Buddhist monastery in Nepal
Ever since 1990, Department of Architecture has been involved in "Restoration project for Buddhist monasteries in Nepal". This photo is the Baha Bahi monastery situated in Patan, a town located on the southeastern border of Kathmandu. It is reported that the monastery was constructed in 1491 and renovated in 1661. However, it was devastated and if no measures were to be taken, such precious cultural heritage was sure to be ruined. Viewing such situation, NIT volunteered to help. At the end of March 1996, the restoration was completed.
