About NIT
NIT campus has a total area of 250,000m2. The campus is rich in greenery that changes its appearance from season to season. Various environmentally friendly technologies, such as photovoltaic systems on the roof of the main building, have been installed throughout the campus. The main building is surrounded by departmental buildings equipped with state-of-theart education and research facilities, providing an educational environment where nature and engineering technologies exist in harmony.
On the roof of the main building within the NIT campus, photovoltaic panels with a power generation capacity of 580kW, the largest capacity among universities in Japan, have been installed. The generated power is used for lighting and air conditioning the classrooms. The photovoltaic panels symbolize the NIT policy of having an environmentally friendly campus that also serves as teaching tool.
NIT was award first prize in the Eco-University Ranking in 2012 and has been ISO14001 certified.
